This week’s Mayhem Pick (1-1, through two weeks) is Baylor upsetting Oklahoma. Yes, Georgia or Ohio State losing would bring far more turbulence, but the odds are too far skewed to qualify. If Baylor wins, not only is the playoff picture blurred, but the Big 12 title race gets more competitive.
In other conference-critical games, Texas A&M’s bid to snatch the SEC West will die if the Aggies lose to Ole Miss. And just for a moment, let’s appreciate that NC State and Wake Forest are in a place to compete for the ACC title. This might not happen again if Clemson rebounds next year. Good on them.
