Justyn Ross injury update: Clemson WR on crutches after latest injury
By John Buhler
Clemson football star receiver Justyn Ross left Saturday’s home game vs. UConn with an injury.
Though the Clemson football team should have no issues putting away lowly UConn on Saturday, it looks like the Tigers will be without star receiver Justyn Ross for the foreseeable future.
Ross had to exit the game with a left leg injury in the first half of the ballgame. He did return to the Clemson sidelines, albeit in street clothes. Not only was he out of his uniform, but he was on crutches and was spotted with a walking boot on his left leg. After missing all of last season due to a spinal condition, it has been one thing after another for the former five-star wide receiver.
Clemson still has ACC Atlantic foe Wake Forest and in-state rival South Carolina left on the regular-season slate before getting ready for its bowl game.
Justyn Ross injury: Clemson football star on crutches and in a walking boot
Anytime a player is seen in a walking boot, it is almost a guarantee that he will not play for the foreseeable future. Even though Clemson is not winning the ACC this season, the Tigers can knock Wake Forest out of the New Year’s Six conversation with home victory next week. Of course, nothing would be worse for them than to drop the Palmetto Bowl to rebuilding South Carolina.
Ultimately, it was abundantly clear this was not Clemson’s year from the jump. Managing only three points vs. Georgia in Charlotte totally derailed the Tigers’ season. Losing at NC State knocked them out of the College Football Playoff conversation. Falling at Pittsburgh made them a complete afterthought in the ACC they once dominated. In a few weeks, Clemson’s season will be over with.
Given that Ross is draft-eligible, he may have just played his last snap in Clemson football uniform.
