After a rough start, the New England Patriots seem to have hit their stride and are rolling in the right direction. Are they the best in the AFC?

Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots have consistently been among the best teams the NFL has had to offer. With the number of championships Belichick has brought to New England and the consistency in the Patriots’ ability to get to the Super Bowl, it’s clear that the Patriots have been one of the best teams in the AFC year in and year out.

But this season, with a young quarterback and a bad start, it appeared as if New England would be in the midst of a down year.

After a dominant 45-7 win over the Cleveland Browns, it seems like the Patriots might be something of a contender after all. New England has now won five of its last six games and four games in a row, the Patriots have a +98 point differential on the season, and they’re looking like a very well-rounded team.

Will they be the best in the AFC this year?

Are the New England Patriots the AFC’s best team?

While the Patriots recent run of excellence has been impressive and is worth celebrating, New England doesn’t quite seem like the best the AFC has to offer. At least not yet.

The Buffalo Bills still exist. Even if they aren’t perfect, they’ve been pretty impressive throughout the season. The Bills have a respectable 6-3 record and a +152 point differential. They’ve got a slew of blowout wins and a pretty high ceiling.

Over in Nashville, the Tennessee Titans keep winning. The Titans are a solid team that manages to continue winning, even if they might have a few flaws that are worth addressing. The Titans have a +42 point differential and are 8-2 on the year. Ryan Tannehill might be a less-than-stellar quarterback and Derrick Henry’s injury might put a ceiling on all this team can accomplish, but as long as the Titans keep winning, they’re worth considering among the AFC’s best.

The Patriots have certainly shown some considerable improvement in recent weeks and there’s a very good chance that they’ll continue to thrive. If this team continues on its successful streak, New England is definitely a team worth fearing as the playoffs get closer.
