Did Seahawks get robbed of clear recovery on Aaron Rodgers fumble?
The Seahawks had the chance to hop on an Aaron Rodgers fumble and seemingly got to the loose ball. Did they get robbed of a forced turnover?
In a battle of returning quarterbacks, Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks visited Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, both of the signal-callers weren’t able to find much success in the first half.
Rodgers, in fact, looked quite rusty. On one play in the second quarter, the polarizing Packers quarterback botched a snap badly and put the ball on the turf. With the ball loose, the Seattle defensive front went after it and defensive end Darrell Taylor seemingly got a good look at the ball.
But when the dust settled, the refs gave the ball back to Green Bay. And many Seahawks fans were left thinking they got screwed out of a turnover.
Were Seahawks screwed out of a clear fumble recovery against Packers?
You watch the video and be the judge on the Rodgers fumble.
If you’re a Seahawks fan, it’s understandable as to why you’d believe that this was a clear recovery by Seattle. Taylor dives for the ball and gets on top of it.
By the letter of the NFL law, though, what the officials ruled was probably the right call. Though he has less of his body on the football than Taylor, Rodgers clearly gets both hands on the ball seemingly simultaneously with the Seahawks defensive end getting on it. That means simultaneous possession, which goes to the possessing team.
Still, in a low-scoring game when every change in field position can be critical, this is going to be a tough pill for Seattle fans to swallow.
