According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Pittsburgh Steelers tried to sneak in late to sign Odell Beckham Jr.

Come Monday night against the San Francisco 49ers, Odell Beckham Jr. is all set to make his debut with the Los Angeles Rams. As it turns out, a surprise team tried pulling off a move at the 11th hour to sign the speedster.

According to Ian Rapoport, the Pittsburgh Steelers wanted to bring Beckham Jr. to Heinz Field, but it was too little too late, as OBJ made up his mind to be LA-bound.

Odell Beckham Jr. had the Rams and Packers as his finalists

As soon as Beckham became a free agent, multiple teams showed serious interest in bringing him to town. Per Rapoport, the Chiefs, Packers, Rams, Seahawks and Saints all put offers on the table. With that said, Beckham narrowed things down to the Packers and Rams.

In the end, however, Beckham found his perfect fit with the Rams and now he’s ready to try and help the team get into a position to win a Super Bowl. When the Steelers reached out to Beckham, per Rapoport, they were simply too late because Beckham was deciding between LA and Green Bay.

For Steelers fans, they’ll be left to wonder what could have been for Pittsburgh had Beckham suited up for Mike Tomlin the rest of the campaign. Now, folks in Pittsburgh will have to watch Beckham make plays for the Rams. Once Beckham becomes a free agent, though, maybe the Steelers can shoot their shot with him again.
