Teddy Bridgewater seemed like he had a chance to tackle Darius Slay as the Eagles notched a scoop-and-score but the Broncos QB had no interest in contact.

Nearing the end of the third quarter, the Denver Broncos found themselves down by a touchdown against the Eagles. Facing a fourth-and-1 situation, they gambled and went for it, but Melvin Gordon coughed up the ball.

The scrum resulted in Philadelphia cornerback Darius Slay scooping up the fumble and taking the recovery 82 yards to the house to give the Eagles a commanding lead.

It was a phenomenal return by Slay as he weaved in and out of traffic. However, perhaps the best angle to tackle the cornerback on the return was the one quarterback Teddy Bridgewater had. But when the opportunity came, the Broncos signal-caller was completely disinterested in making the play and getting into contact.

Teddy Bridgewater shirking a chance to tackle Slay adds to Broncos fans’ disappointment

Even putting the lack of tackling effort for Bridgewater aside (or just laughing at it), Broncos fans aren’t particularly pleased with the quarterback.

There were not high expectations in Denver this season, but many were hoping Bridgewater might give the offense a boost to at least appear competitive. In a division that is only getting better, the Broncos seem tired of being the perpetual fourth-place finishes and made changes this offseason to get out of their current rut.

Bridgewater, unfortunately, hasn’t helped spark any positive changes for Denver. Instead, the loss to the Eagles, all but cemented by the Slay fumble recovery touchdown, took their record to a pedestrian 5-5 and in the thralls of the AFC playoff picture quagmire.
