2. Texas Rangers

Should Kershaw actually end up leaving Los Angeles, which seems so incredibly odd to think about, heading back to his hometown might make the most sense to finish his Hall of Fame career.

The Texas Rangers have a good bit of money to work with right now and they may be willing to overpay a bit to bring Kershaw home as his presence would likely help draw larger crowds.

The only downside here for Kershaw is that the Rangers just aren’t much of a good team right now and it’s not really clear when things will improve considerably. Would Kershaw potentially want to ride off into the sunset and finish out his career at home while trying to help turn this franchise around?

Wins might be few and far between, but the folks in northern Texas would welcome him back with open arms.

1. Los Angeles Dodgers

Of course, there’s always a chance that Kershaw could return to the team that gave him his big break and has been home to him for 14 seasons now. Kershaw is a Los Angeles legend and it would be weird to see him play with any other organization.

The Dodgers didn’t put a qualifying offer on the table, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t want Kershaw back for another season. There’s a chance that, at the right price, the Dodgers would be willing to bring Kershaw back for another contract. Clearly, Los Angeles doesn’t want to spend too much on a pitcher who has shown signs of slowing down, but if they could adjust their starting rotation a bit and get Kershaw on a more manageable contract, there’s no downside for the team or the pitcher.

Just because Kershaw isn’t the pitcher he once was doesn’t mean he still can’t be a valuable contributor for Los Angeles. The Dodgers could even potentially win another World Series with him.
