Only two weeks remain in the college football regular season and we have bold predictions for Ohio State, Oregon, Cincinnati, Michigan and much more.
And you thought the first 11 weeks of the 2021 college football season were absolutely nuts.
With major (and minor) upsets littered throughout every week’s slate to this point in the regular season, with the Heisman Trophy favorites falling spectacularly short of preseason expectation, and with constant shuffling of rankings and opinions, it’s been a wild season. The home stretch over the final two weeks of the regular season, though, isn’t going to change that. In fact, things could get even crazier.
College Football Playoff positioning, conference championship bids and much more still hang in the balance for a number of teams. And that’s as many of these teams head into crucial rivalry matchups or tough games over the final two weeks.
So we’re tackling the calamity that could ensue over the final two weeks of the college football regular season by making bold predictions as to what will transpire throughout the country.
College football: 10 bold predictions for the last two weeks of regular season
10. Cincinnati loses to SMU and College Football Playoff shot goes up in flames
Coming into the season, the task appeared to be simple for Luke Fickell’s Cincinnati Bearcats. With matchups on the road against Notre Dame and Indiana and a clear advantage over the rest of the AAC while being armed with a preseason top-10 ranking, all they needed to do was win those crucial non-conference games and the playoff was in reach.
Then came the rankings that put them at No. 6 after notching those wins and it seemingly took the wind out of their sails.
Cincinnati has been far from dominant over the past three weeks in games where, frankly, they should’ve been. Now, in Week 12, they face the best AAC team on their schedule in SMU. The high-octane offense of the Mustangs is going to present a challenge and, with the way that the Bearcats have been underperforming, SMU is going to pony up and eliminate any shot Cincy has of reaching the playoff with an upset win.
9. Bryce Young secures Heisman Trophy with 10+ TDs against Arkansas, Auburn
Spencer Rattler and Sam Howell were the Heisman favorites coming into the year but their candidacy has long since dissipated. Now, it appears that Alabama quarterback Bryce Young should be the favorite to capture the top individual award in college football. The final two games of the season for the Crimson Tide quarterback afford him the opportunity to lock that up as he faces two ranked opponents in Arkansas and Auburn.
Not only is Bryce Young going to lock up the Heisman, he’s going to do so in an emphatic fashion. The quarterback has gotten better with each passing week and he’s going to leave a lasting impression over the final two regular-season games. He’ll combine for 10 or more touchdowns against the Razorbacks and Tigers and leave no doubt that he was college football’s best individual player this year.
