5 potential destinations for Kris Bryant in free agency
By John Buhler
Kris Bryant could be on the move once again with his high-profile free agency rapidly approaching.
After being dealt by the Chicago Cubs to the San Francisco Giants at the trade deadline, Kris Bryant could be looking to join yet another team in 2022 MLB free agency.
Bryant had spent his entire big-league career on the North Side of Chicago prior to getting dealt by the Cubs. He landed in the Bay Area and helped the Giants win a division crown in a very tight NL West. Though the Giants bowed out in the NLDS to the rival Los Angeles Dodgers, there is a chance he could return on a second contract. However, he will have plenty of suitors this winter.
Here are five teams that would make a great deal of sense for Bryant to sign with in free agency.
Kris Bryant free agency: 5 potential suitors for him entering 2022 season
Kris Bryant could join childhood friend Bryce Harper on the Philadelphia Phillies
The Philadelphia Phillies are close to getting back into the postseason, but they still have the longest active playoff drought in the National League. Bryant could potentially join his childhood friend Bryce Harper as a cornerstone of this NL East franchise. However, there are several other teams out there who will be more willing to spend the big bucks to land the versatile playmaker.
The Toronto Blue Jays are an on-the-rise team
One team that could be in for a huge jump in 2022 has to be the Toronto Blue Jays. They might play in the deep AL East, but they are every bit capable of winning the pennant next year. Toronto spent big a season ago by signing George Springer away from the Houston Astros. Adding Bryant makes the Phillies and Blue Jays better instantly, but there are three other teams he is more likely to sign with than them this offseason.
