Shots were fired by Texas football head coach Steve Sarkisian in the direction of his predecessor Tom Herman.
Steve Sarkisian points the finger at his predecessor Tom Herman as to why the Texas football team has been an unmitigated disaster during his first season in Austin.
Texas is 4-6 on the year. The Longhorns have lost five games in a row, including an unthinkable one at home most recently to the flightless Kansas Jayhawks. Texas needs to beat West Virginia in Morgantown and Kansas State at home to achieve bowl eligibility. All the while, Sarkisian has come under fire as the weather started to change. Did he really use Herman as a scapegoat here?
Here is what Sarkisian had to say in his Monday press conference about the state of the program.
Sark casually dropping in the fact that approximately "50%" of the players from the 2018 and 2019 recruiting classes are no longer on the Texas roster.

Texas football: Steve Sarkisian blames Tom Herman for having a bad roster
By slipping in there that 50 percent of the 2018 and 2019 recruiting classes signed by Texas are no longer on the roster, Sarkisian went full-blown CYA in an attempt to save face. Yes, Texas’ roster is in shambles, but that usually is the case for any coach taking over a downtrodden program. With a dearth of upperclassmen, Texas is having an impossible time in Big 12 play.
Of course, Texas will be without its best player the rest of the way in sophomore running back Bijan Robinson, who dislocated his elbow in the Kansas loss. Though we should expect Texas to be infinitely better during Sarkisian’s second year in Austin, perhaps some members of the fanbase regret seeing the university can Herman after last season? Texas is a total grease fire.
The only way Sarkisian can right this ship is kill it in recruitment and win with his guys on the field.
