Oklahoma’s luck finally ran out as their loss knocks them completely out of the College Football Playoff conversation. Does that hurt the Big 12’s standing in the conference ranking?

There weren’t a ton of upsets in Week 11 of the college football season. All of the teams even remotely in the College Football Playoff conversation won on Saturday. Well, except for Oklahoma. The Sooners lost to Baylor on the road, which shows the Playoff committee was right in never really considering the Sooners for Playoff contention. They never got higher than 8th in the rankings, and Michigan State and Michigan stayed ahead of them despite losses.

This week, the Pac 12 and ACC have an opportunity to move up on the list for the first time in weeks. The Big 12 is now out of the Playoff conversation. Meanwhile, Oregon is currently in the College Football Playoff top four. What is going to happen with the conference rankings this week?

College football conference rankings going into Week 12. Oklahoma’s loss makes an impact.

5. ACC

The ACC is still messy, but at least it was a fun mess. Florida State and Miami kept trading blows in the fourth quarter with the Seminoles getting the biggest win of its season on Saturday in Tallahassee. The two top teams in the conference Wake Forest and NC State went blow for blow and ended up putting 87 points on the board. The Demon Deacons would not be denied, and they kept their magical season going. It all started with a great game between Pitt and North Carolina on Thursday night. It was a lot of fun in the ACC this week. It’s still the worst conference in the country, but at least it was an enjoyable experience to watch.

4. Big 12

This was a very hard decision, but the Big 12 falling out of the College Football Playoff conversation and the Pac-12 playing better as a conference led us here. Oklahoma’s loss to Baylor shows that Baylor is a good team that could find itself in the top 10 this week, and Oklahoma State could also move up within the top 10, but neither team is playing for a championship. Iowa State’s nightmare season continues with another loss to Texas Tech. Kansas also beat Texas. That’s a stain that will be hard for Steve Sarkesian to shake off. Texas might not even be bowl eligible this season. There’s depth here with the Sooners, Cowboys, and Bears, but they fall due to their inability to win a title.
