Oklahoma football coach Lincoln Riley addressed the LSU head-coaching vacancy rumors.

Though Lincoln Riley already has a top-four job in college football, the Oklahoma head coach has been tied to the LSU gig for a few weeks now.

Riley has done a marvelous job taking over the Sooners program after his mentor Bob Stoops retired after the 2016 campaign. Oklahoma has won the Big 12 every year he has been there. While that streak could end this season with the Sooners’ College Football Playoff hopes now on life support, he addressed the rumors of him being linked to the vacancy over in Baton Rouge.

It was not a vehement denial as Jimbo Fisher had, but Riley did get his point across.

Lincoln Riley to LSU rumors: Oklahoma head coach addresses them

Riley may love coaching at Oklahoma, but the dynamic will change once his program joins the SEC in the near future. The Sooners are without question the best program in the Big 12, but they will drop down a peg once they enter the SEC. Oklahoma has tremendous resources and tradition, but the state does not produce the same amount of top-end high school players as Louisiana does.

It would be very interesting if Riley did leave Oklahoma for LSU. While he would do wonderfully in Baton Rouge, Boomer Sooner Nation will not forgive him for bailing on them. If Riley wants to solidify his legacy at Oklahoma, he should stay and win regardless. If he can keep Oklahoma as a top-tier program even after joining the SEC, it will mean more than what he could ever do at LSU.

Riley may be committed to winning at Oklahoma, but LSU could back up the BRINKS truck for him.
