MLB rumors: What’s the latest with Freddie Freeman?
With some big names coming off the board in MLB free agency, Freddie Freeman is expected to make his decision in the near future.
Where will Freddie Freeman end up playing next season? That’s the question baseball fans across the country have on their minds. After helping the Atlanta Braves win the World Series this past season, Freeman is now a free agent and drawing plenty of interest.
Atlanta fans out there are hoping the front office will be able to do enough to keep him in town. With that said, a big-time offer from another powerhouse could lure him away. So, what’s the latest out on the Freeman front?
Freddie Freeman Braves rumors
As we mentioned above, the hope across Atlanta is that Freeman won’t go anywhere and he’ll be back in the heart of the lineup come next season. With that said, MLB insider Jon Heyman is reporting that the two sides aren’t close on an agreement, with a sixth year in those contract talks holding things up.
Atlanta may not be ready to budge and give Freeman exactly what he’s looking for. If they don’t, someone else will.
Freddie Freeman Dodgers rumors
One of those teams who could be ready to step in? The Los Angeles Dodgers. After suffering heartbreak in the postseason to the Braves this past fall, the Dodgers are looking to stick it to Atlanta by potentially stealing the star first baseman from them.
Per MLB insider Robert Murray, the Dodgers indeed make some sense here, if they moved Max Muncy to first base. Could you imagine if LA were to swoop in and sign the lefty slugger? The rich would most certainly get richer.
Freddie Freeman Yankees rumors
Last but not least, the New York Yankees have also expressed interest in Freeman, which should come as no surprise at all. Freeman is one of the best free agents out there and there’s massive pressure on Brian Cashman to improve this roster this offseason.
New York suffered its AL Wild Card loss to the Boston Red Sox and fans were calling for both Cashman and Aaron Boone to be fired. Landing Freeman would definitely provide plenty of excitement in the Bronx, but the Braves want to make sure that doesn’t happen.
