Arkansas BBQ restaurant bans SEC officials after questionably called loss to Alabama
By Ethan Lee
Folks in Arkansas aren’t thrilled with the Arkansas Razorbacks’ loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide. One barbecue restaurant has officially banned SEC officials.
One Arkansas dining establishment isn’t too happy with the way SEC officials operated during the Arkansas Razorbacks’ loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide Saturday evening.
Wright’s Barbecue, a restaurant in northwest Arkansas, has made it clear that they are displeased with the folks in the SEC office as they were all banned from the restaurant for the foreseeable future.
According to a tweet, Wright’s Barbecue won’t allow folks from the SEC office into their establishment until the Razorbacks find a way to beat Alabama in football.
Arkansas vs. Alabama: BBQ restaurant bans SEC refs following Razorbacks loss to Crimson Tide
A ban until Arkansas beats Bama in football?
That could take a while.
The Razorbacks haven’t had much success against the Crimson Tide in either recent years or historically. Alabama currently has a 14-game winning streak over Arkansas and the Crimson Tide have managed to win 22 of the 30 meetings all-time.
The last win for Arkansas in this series was in 2006, before Saban got things rolling in Tuscaloosa. Even in that game, the Razorbacks won on a razor-thin margin, beating Alabama 24-23.
So again, this ban might be in place for a few years.
It’s understandable though. The SEC has been having a rough year with its officials. From issues in the meeting between the Ole Miss Rebels and Tennessee Volunteers and that egregious mistake in the Mississippi State Bulldogs’ game against the Memphis Tigers, this has not been a banner year for SEC refs.
It’s hard to fault Wright’s Barbecue for their decision.
