12. BYU Cougars

Forced to travel across the country from Utah to Georgia coming off their late open week, BYU admittedly looked a bit rusty and seemingly let a substandard Georgia Southern team hang around for much longer than they should have. But at the end of 60 minutes, the Cougars emerged with a 17-point victory and, with other losses, should move up a couple of spots in the rankings.

This isn’t the same BYU team that we saw last season but you have to tip your cap to Kalani Sitake for the job he’s done with this program. They’ve taken down numerous Pac-12 teams this season and have continued to be a force in the national picture. At a place like BYU, that’s a tremendous job by the head coach.

11. Oregon Ducks

All Oregon had to do was beat a team that they are more talented than and they would be in the Pac-12 Championship Game and fully in control of their College Football Playoff chances. Instead, they looked as if they thought they traveled to Utah for a vacation this week rather than to play arguably the most important game on their schedule. And the final score showed that.

Frankly, the game never felt close and Oregon is going to feel that in how they drop in the rankings. I have a hard time putting them below a lot of other teams in the rankings but the fact of the matter is that they deserve to fall wholly out of any CFP discussion or the discussion of the best teams in the country. The talent is there but the performance was not.
