College football rankings 2021: Projected Week 13 AP Top 25 after Oregon gets steamrolled, Alabama survives and Ohio State shines
6. Michigan Wolverines
Do you think Michigan is ready for The Game next week? While what Ohio State did to Michigan State earned a lot more of the national spotlight than what Jim Harbaugh’s team had on the docket this Saturday, the Wolverines continued to show that they are arguably the best version of the team that we’ve seen in Ann Arbor since the head coach took over.
Michigan dominated Maryland on the road to the tune of a 59-18 drubbing that saw every facet of the offense and every aspect of the defense firing on all cylinders throughout the game. They burned the Terps through the air and on the ground and looked primed to try and challenge the rival Buckeyes as they also hit their stride.
5. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Don’t look now, but there’s a legitimate path for Notre Dame to get into the College Football Playoff at this point and a big part of that is that the Fighting Irish have been putting their best foot forward over the stretch run of the regular season. On Saturday, they welcomed an admittedly short-handed Georgia Tech team to town and absolutely blasted the Yellow Jackets.
Behind two defensive touchdowns and a complete offensive performance, Notre Dame secured the dominant 55-0 win at home. They hit the road to face Stanford to wrap up their season and, depending on what chaos lies ahead in conference championship games, the Irish are still alive for a playoff spot.
