Head coach Nick Saban urged Alabama football fans to understand how important the atmosphere they create at games can be ahead of the Arkansas game.

In getting ready for Alabama’s matchup with Arkansas, Nick Saban is focusing on the mentality of his program.

He called out his players about entitlement, knowing that they can’t just turn up on game day and beat any team. They have to respect the opposition and always take them seriously.

The message on his weekly radio show extended beyond just the players though. He turned his attention to fans as well.

“So maybe that speech about entitlement also applies to fans. Not just players,” Saban said, via On3.com. “And we have great fans, don’t get me wrong. But sometimes, I think that fans don’t understand how what they do can impact the psychological disposition of young people and what they need to be doing so that they can play the way they need to play.”

Saban urged fans to give the team a boost by creating a strong atmosphere at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

“Be positive, be supportive and understand your role,” Saban said. “[The players] need your help. They need your support. We’ve got to create a great stadium for them to play in and make it hard for the other team to play at our place, and not have the expectation that we’re just going to show up and win.”

Alabama is two games away from a huge SEC Championship Game matchup with Georgia. First, they have to see off Arkansas at home. Then they’ll head on the road to face Auburn. If they want to keep their playoff hopes alive, they need to win both of those games.
