This may not be the strongest quarterback class in history, but the Steelers can take heart knowing their ideal pick is so obvious.

Pickett’s escapability was on display there. So was his vision and arm. He got away from the pressure, kept his eyes downfield and found his man open in the back of the endzone.

While attention will fall on Ole Miss’ Matt Corral and others, the Steelers should be in a good spot to go out and pick up the Pitt quarterback. The key is making sure they’re proactive about pursuing him. If that means trading up, so be it.

Pickett just fits what the Steelers need. He has the physical tools to succeed at quarterback in the NFL. He’s also conveniently placed at Pitt.
