Julian Edelman had hilariously blunt response to Tom Brady’s Bucs recruiting
Julian Edelman revealed on the Manningcast for MNF that Tom Brady tried to recruit him to the Buccaneers but the receiver had a hilariously blunt response.
For years with the New England Patriots, Tom Brady throwing to Julian Edelman was a thing of beauty. The duo, of course, helped lead the franchise to the end of the Foxborough dynasty as Brady departed for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in free agency ahead of the 2020 season.
Before he went on to lead his new team to a Super Bowl in his first year with them, though, he tried to recruit Edelman to Tampa Bay to join him and tight end Rob Gronkowski for a full-blown Patriots reunion in Florida.
While appearing on the Manningcast for the Bucs’ Monday Night Football win over the Giants, Edelman said that Brady hit him up the first day he signed with the new team and asked if he wanted to come down with him. The wide receiver, however, had a hilariously frank response to his quarterback.
Julian Edelman clearly had no interest following Tom Brady to the Bucs
Edelman played only one more season with the Patriots after the departure of Brady, an injury-riddled 2020 campaign that he ultimately retired after.
While a move to the Buccaneers may not have changed anything, his response to Brady is an all-timer. Imagine having a relationship with the greatest NFL quarterback to ever play where you can tell him “absolutely not” without hesitation when he wants to play another season with you.
Of course, Tampa ultimately didn’t need Edelman to get himself another ring, though it would’ve been quite the scene to have a full-blown Patriots South situation on our hands if the wideout had taken Brady up on the offer.
