Padres eyeing ‘rising star’ Michael Brdar as next hitting coach
The San Diego Padres are reportedly looking at Michael Brdar, most recently with the Giants, to be the club’s new hitting coach.
On the heels of a season in which the San Diego Padres seemed easily bound for the playoffs only for a late-season skid to take them out of the postseason, the organization is looking to capitalize on the talented young core of players that includes Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado and many others.
To do so, it seems as if they are trying to get a hold of a “rising star” in MLB as it pertains to hitting coaches.
According to our own Robert Murray, the Padres are targeting Michael Brdar to be the next hitting coach in San Diego. Brdar, though just 27 years old, was most recently with the San Francisco Giants, a division rival, as a hitting coordinator and is sought-after in the league.

Padres targeting Michael Brdar as hitting coach: Who is the 27-year-old?
Brdar played college baseball at the University of Michigan and was a 36th round pick by the Cardinals in the 2017 MLB Amateur Draft.
He has since taken to the coaching ranks after a brief stint in the minors and his time with the Giants last season has quickly made him an increasingly hot commodity in the hitting instruction world of MLB.
It seems as if he’s heading to the Padres and, at 27 years old, should be at the start of a bright future in the MLB coaching ranks.
