While the San Francisco Giants are hoping to re-sign Kevin Gausman this winter, there are multiple teams trying to land him as well.

Coming off the first All-Star campaign of his career, Kevin Gausman sure put on a show ahead of free agency. The hard-throwing righty dazzled for the San Francisco Giants in 2021, which of course now has the NL West club hoping to bring him back.

That won’t be easy, though. According to MLB insider Jon Morosi, the Seattle Mariners, Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Angels are all showing interest in signing Gausman. Will he bolt the Bay area or make a return to the Giants?

Kevin Gausman free agency rumors continue to heat up

While a return to San Francisco would make sense, teams like the Mariners, Angels and Blue Jays have made it quite clear they’re ready to be aggressive in spending this offseason. All three teams missed out on the postseason this past fall, which of course is always going to be a bummer.

For the Mariners, it’s been 20 years since they’ve tasted playoff baseball. Now, however, Jerry DiPoto wants to end the streak and he’s set on being a big spender. Adding a strong arm like Gausman would sure be a fantastic start for the team.

This past season, Gausman went 14-6, posting a 2.81 ERA. He also struck out 227 batters in 192 innings of work. With those kind of numbers, it’s no wonder there’s a trio of clubs who want him out of San Francisco starting this upcoming season.

Gausman joined the Giants in 2020. He had previously suited up for the Reds, Braves and Orioles. Will he add a fifth club to his resume in the near future? The Giants will hope to prevent that from happening. Stay tuned to see what happens here.
