MLB rumors: Surprise team interested in Marcus Stroman
There are countless teams trying to sign Marcus Stroman this winter and you can now add the Seattle Mariners to the list.
There’s no denying that starting pitcher Marcus Stroman is a wanted man right now. While the New York Mets are hoping to bring him back to town, the feeling is that he could join a new club come 2022. Now, a new team is ready to shoot its shot with the Long Island native.
According to MLB insider Jon Morosi, the Seattle Mariners are now ready to shoot their shot with the star hurler. Could a move to the Pacific Northwest be in the works?
Marcus Stroman free agency continues to heat up
It goes without saying, but Mariners fans would absolutely love it if Stroman were to make his way to T-Mobile Park. Jerry DiPoto and Co. have made it more than clear they’re ready to be big spenders this winter. Getting Stroman would of course provide plenty of hope for next season and beyond.
Seattle came ever-so close to bringing its 20-year streak of missing the postseason to an end, but they barely missed out on a Wild Card spot in 2021. With so much young talent on the team, the expectation is that the Mariners will be right back in the hunt come 2022.
In order for them to get over the top, though, they’re going to have to make some big moves in free agency. Stroman sure would fit the bill, as he could immediately make quite the difference for the rotation. With so many other teams showing interest, it could be tough for Seattle to finalize things, but they should do everything possible to try and sell Stroman on the exciting potential for the club.
