Bowl projections 2021: What bowl game will Ole Miss play in?
By John Buhler
Ole Miss football fans should expect to see the Rebels playing in a New Year’s Six bowl this holiday season.
In Lane Kiffin’s second season in Oxford, the Ole Miss football team is projected to be heading to a New Year’s Six bowl game.
Ole Miss defeated rival Mississippi State on the road Thanksgiving Night in the Egg Bowl to get to 10-2 on the season. This is the first 10-win season in Ole Miss football history and the first winning season in six seasons.
While the Rebels have to await the outcome of the 2021 SEC Championship to be decided before they know what bowl they are going to, they are a lock to be playing in one of the marquee New Year’s Six bowl games. What a season for the Rebels!
Ole Miss bowl projections have Rebels playing Baylor in the Sugar Bowl
Brett McMurphy of The Action Network has Ole Miss playing the Baylor Bears in the 2022 Allstate Sugar Bowl at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on Jan. 1.
With the Sugar Bowl not part of the College Football Playoff this season, it will be an SEC team playing a Big 12 team.
Though Ole Miss and Baylor have no shot of making the playoff this year, both programs are in line to play in the Sugar Bowl. If not the Sugar for either of these teams, they could potentially meet each other in the Cotton Bowl Classic in Arlington.
The only way the Rebels do not go to the Sugar Bowl is if Georgia beats Alabama in the SEC Championship to knock the Crimson Tide out of the College Football Playoff conversation entirely.
