8. Baylor Bears

While their Big 12 Championship Game fate was largely out of their hands, the one thing Baylor had to do on Saturday was get past an inferior Texas Tech team in Waco if they were going to have a shot. Dave Aranda’s team then made that look much harder than they probably should have, even if they skated by with a 27-24 victory.

Texas Tech actually had a solid opportunity to tie the game and force overtime but missed a 53-yard attempt in the final seconds that sealed the Bears win. Baylor, if Oklahoma loses in Bedlam, will have to be much better and tightened up to try and exact revenge on Oklahoma State and win the Big 12.

7. Ole Miss Rebels

The Egg Bowl was relatively tame by the standards of that rivalry matchup between the two in-state rivals but hats off to Lane Kiffin for taking his Ole Miss Rebels on the roadto Starkville and picking up the convincing win that wasn’t nearly as close as the 31-21 final score would indicate as the Bulldogs scored 15 points in the fourth quarter to make things much closer than they were in practice.

Regardless, it’s been a heck of a ride for Kiffin in his second season with the program as he led the Rebels to the first 10-win season in school history. They obviously aren’t bound for the SEC Championship Game or College Football Playoff but this is definitely a campaign they can hang their hat on now and moving forward.
