The Clemson Tigers stomped the South Carolina Gamecocks in the Palmetto Bowl on Saturday, and Dabo Swinney made history as a result.
The Clemson Tigers may not have earned a berth in the ACC championship game this year for the first time since 2014, but head coach Dabo Swinney did make some history in rivalry week.
On Saturday, the Tigers shut out the South Carolina Gamecocks 30-0 to win the Palmetto Bowl. Swinney now becomes the first head coach in Palmetto Bowl history to earn seven-consecutive head-to-head wins.

Dabo Swinney makes history in Clemson’s Palmetto Bowl win
The victory did not come through the air for Clemson, as evidenced by D.J. Uiagalelei’s 99 passing yards and one interception (9-for-19 on passes). Instead, it arrived on the ground via their running game.
Will Shipley led the way for the Tigers rushing attack, as he picked up 146 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. The other two touchdowns for Clemson came from Phil Mafah and Kobe Pace.
Of course, credit has to be given for Clemson’s defense, as they limited South Carolina to just 206 yards of total offense on the night. They made the Gamecock’s running game a non-factor, as they picked up just 43 rushing yards on 20 carries.
With Clemson now 9-3 on the season, they are bowl game bound. As for which game they will play, that is currently unknown. We should find out in the very near future.
