Jim Harbaugh was definitely feeling himself after Michigan upended Ohio State for the first time and didn’t hesitate to throw shade at Ryan Day.

Make no mistake about it, Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh took his lumps to get to Saturday afternoon. He was 0-5 against rival Ohio State heading into the game, had a history of falling well short in big games, and seemingly was the butt of jokes around the college football world.

So for him to take all of that and emerge with a 42-27 win over the Buckeyes that punches the Wolverines’ ticket to the Big Ten Championship Game in addition to putting them in prime position to make the College Football Playoff deserves plenty of respect. The head coach persevered to get his program to this moment in time — something he clearly doesn’t think Ohio State head coach Ryan Day comprehends.

Talking to the media after the game, Harbaugh seemingly took dead aim at Day and the Buckeyes program by saying that “some people are born on third base and think they hit a triple.”

Michigan football: Jim Harbaugh throws shade at Ryan Day after winning The Game

While Day has kept the Ohio State machine running smoothly, it’s hard to argue that Harbaugh at least has something of a point, especially in comparison.

Day officially took over the Buckeyes after Urban Meyer stepped down and while the program had gone 25-3 over the previous two seasons. Harbaugh, meanwhile, landed back in Ann Arbor to coach his alma mater after the Wolverines were coming off a 5-7 season and 12-13 two-year run under the final years of Brady Hoke.

To his credit, Day has done a phenomenal job on the recruiting trail and Ohio State has been in the College Football Playoff picture consistently under his watch. Having said that, the task at hand was one in which he was set up for success, not one where he had to manufacture it himself, which you could argue was the case with Harbaugh.

It’s definitely a shot from Harbaugh at Day but, as they say, that’s The Game. And you can bet that will only continue to fuel the rivalry moving forward.
