2021 bowl projections: LSU projected to play Penn State in Gator Bowl
By John Buhler
LSU football fans have a holiday season bowl game to look forward after upsetting Texas A&M.
After stunning the Texas A&M Aggies to get to 6-6, the LSU football team is now bowl eligible.
Despite this being Ed Orgeron’s last game at the helm in Baton Rouge, the Bayou Bengals found a way to get it done to send their former head coach out on top a winner. Beating former offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher will all the rumors swirling of him switching SEC West allegiances makes this all the more better. With an unexpected bowl game coming, where will LSU fans congregate?
Given LSU’s high-profile nature, the Tigers might be heading to play a Big Ten team in Nashville.
LSU bowl projections: Tigers vs. Penn State in Music City Bowl
The two bowl games that make the most sense for LSU are the Music City Bowl or the Gator Bowl. If they were to play in the Music City Bowl, LSU is likely to face a Big Ten team like Penn State. If it is the Gator Bowl they are heading to, LSU would end up facing an ACC team like North Carolina or Virginia Tech.
The TransPerfect Music City Bowl will take place at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee on Dec. 30.
While LSU has the record to go to a lesser bowl like the Birmingham Bowl or the Gasparilla Bowl in Tampa, there is no denying that the Tigers fanbase will travel. Whether that is to Nashville or to Jacksonville, Tiger Nation will follow. Though the long-awaited head-coaching search will be coming to an end very soon, getting to 6-6 means LSU has one more game left to play in 2021.
Despite their mediocre records, a Penn State vs. LSU bowl game matchup is one of great intrigue.
