Bears head coaching shortlist revealed
With the Chicago Bears expected to fire Matt Nagy sooner than later, several names of intrigue have been mentioned as possible replacements.
It’s feeling like the days of Matt Nagy as head coach of the Chicago Bears are numbered. A report surfaced earlier in the week that he’d be fired after the team’s Thanksgiving matchup with the Lions, but that didn’t end up happening.
Despite Chicago getting the win over Detroit, fans are begging for the front office to can Nagy. So, who could end up taking over down the road? NFL insider Jason La Canfora has provided a short list that’s sure to catch folks’ attention.
Chicago Bears firing Matt Nagy feels like it could come at any moment
According to La Canfora’s sources, Byron Leftwich, Josh McDaniels, Brian Daboll, Pat Fitzgerald and others are coaches who Chicago would be interested in trying to get to town. Fitzgerald’s name has been linked to the Bears job for a while, even before Nagy was hired for the gig.
The Northwestern coach decided to stay in the college ranks, but should the Bears come calling this time around, could Fitzgerald change his mind and decide to join the NFC North side?
When Chicago hired Nagy in 2018 from Kansas City, fans were hopeful that he’d be able to get this team on the right track and push for division titles. The opposite has been the case, with the Green Bay Packers rolling this season and about to grab another title.
People in Chicago were furious when Andy Dalton was named the starter to open the campaign too over first-round pick Justin Fields. It’s clear that a breath of fresh air is needed in the Windy City. Will it be one of the guys La Canfora mentioned to take over? Bears supporters can’t wait to find out.
