Dalvin Cook carted off with scary injury in Vikings-49ers game

Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook was carted off the field during Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
The Minnesota Vikings were in the midst of attempting a comeback against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Unfortunately, they lost their star offensive player in the second half. That player was running back Dalvin Cook.
In the third quarter, Cook was tackled by defensive lineman Kevin Givens, fumbling the ball in the process. However, the running back picked up a concerning injury in the process. Cook, with tears in his eyes, was carted off the field.
The photo and/or video of the incident is tough to watch.
Cook was ruled out for the remainder of the game by the Vikings with a shoulder injury.
Dalvin Cook backup: Who will replace him?
Alexander Mattison is the next man up on the Vikings depth chart, per ESPN. Mattison started in two games in place of Cook earlier this year, who was dealing with an ankle injury. In 10 games entering Sunday, Mattison rushed for 294 yards on 81 carries and caught 19 passes for 142 yards and a touchdown.
Prior to picking up the shoulder injury, Cook ran for 39 yards on 10 carries against the 49ers. But the most damage he put on San Francisco was in the passing game, where he caught six of seven targets from quarterback Kirk Cousins for 64 yards.
On the year, Cook ran for 734 yards and four touchdowns on 161 carries, while catching 21-of-32 targets for 138 yards through eight games.
