Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers just lost by 31 points to the Bengals

It’s going to be a long, long December for the Pittsburgh Steelers. While the defense can carry this team at times, the offense is varying shades of putrid seemingly every other week. Not only did the Steelers look like death on Sunday, but they got their teeth kicked by the division rival Cincinnati Bengals, 41-10. Even if Ben Roethlisberger starts the rest of the way, it is so over.

Pittsburgh is arguably the worst team in its own division. While the Baltimore Ravens could run away with it, the Bengals are legit at 7-4. Though he did not play spectacularly, Joe Burrow is clearly the future in the Queen City. As for Big Ben in Pittsburgh, no team in the NFL needs to draft a quarterback this spring more than the Steelers do. The future without a star is a very bleak one.

On the day, Roethlisberger completed 24-of-41 passes for 263 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. With next to no running game, the Steelers never stood a chance in The Jungle. Joe Mixon ran all over the defense, forcing Roethlisberger to throw the ball more often than not playing so far behind. He is a future Hall of Famer, but he is a shot fighter at this point of his career.

It has been a great ride, but the Steelers have no choice but to draft Big Ben’s successor in 2022.
