Buckle up for the Urban Meyer to Oklahoma rumors
With the breaking news that Lincoln Riley is leading Oklahoma for USC, could the Sooners try and lure Urban Meyer back to the college ranks?
The college football world has been flipped upside down on Sunday. According to college football insider Bruce Feldman, Oklahoma’s Lincoln Riley is leaving the Sooners to take over as the head coach at USC. Whoa.
With that breaking news coming in, rumors are flying about potential replacements for Oklahoma. Well, how about Urban Meyer? It’s been a nightmare for him in Jacksonville, and you know Oklahoma fans would love to have him in town.
Urban Meyer to Oklahoma as Lincoln Riley’s replacement would be wild
Following the 21-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, the Jaguars are now 2-9 on the year. Meyer’s lone campaign with the Jags has been filled with drama. There have been so many times where he’s looked miserable on the sidelines.
Is that really going to be good for his health moving forward? At Oklahoma, Meyer could take over one of the premier programs in the country. Meyer knows what it takes to win at the college level, as he’s got three National Championships to his name.
Meyer won the natty twice with Florida and once while at Ohio State. The man simply knows how to recruit and connect with college athletes. If Oklahoma were to come calling with a big-time offer, could it be enough to convince Meyer to leave the pros and say goodbye to Jacksonville?
Meyer has previously come out and said he’s happy with the Jaguars and the team, but this is Oklahoma we’re talking about here. The Sooners would be wise to get on the horn as soon as possible to see if there’s any interest from Meyer.
