Tennessee Titans: Dion Lewis

Lewis was one of several former Patriots that found his way to Tennessee when Mike Vrabel took over as head coach. Lewis wasn’t bad for the Titans, he just fell in the shadow of Derrick Henry, and could no longer live up to the contract that the Titans gave him.

When Lewis was signed in 2018, Tennessee gave him a four-year deal worth slightly less than $20 million, $5.75 million of which was fully guaranteed. He totaled just 517 yards on the ground that season with one touchdown but was a good receiving threat out of the backfield. He had 59 catches for 400 yards that season.

In 2019, though, Derrick Henry really took off, and Lewis was an afterthought of the offense. He only carried the ball 54 times in 2019 for 209 yards, and was let go in the offseason. The Giants picked him up prior to the 2020 season, but again, he was rarely used. This isn’t a detriment to Lewis’ talent, he was a solid depth back, but when you have Derrick Henry, that’s basically the only running back you need. Credit to Lewis, though. He was a big part of a Super Bowl-winning team in New England, it just didn’t work out too much after that.
