29. George Lynch (1989-93)

George Lynch was one of the premier all-around players and leaders in program history. The vocal leader of the 1992-93 National Championship squad, Lynch is correctly remembered as an integral part of that team’s success.

Lynch averaged 13.7 PPG and 8.6 RPG over his sophomore through senior seasons in Chapel Hill. He is third in career rebounds and second in steals in Carolina program history. Although he posted some impressive statistics, Lynch provided leadership and intangibles that were irreplaceable for the Tar Heels.

His physicality and defensive ability helped make him a two-time All-ACC player. They also helped him become the No. 12 overall pick in the 1993 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers.

Although he might not have been the smoothest scorer in program history, Lynch had an incredibly consistent and successful four-year career at UNC, rightfully placing his jersey in the rafters of the Dean E. Smith Center.
