After exploring their catching options, the New York Yankees decided to tender the contract of Gary Sanchez on Tuesday.
The New York Yankees fanbase is just about losing their minds due to the lack of activity from the front office, especially with the top shortstops being taken off the board. The tender deadline took place on Tuesday evening, meaning that New York had to make some decisions on whether they would tender the contracts of arbitration eligible players. Sure enough, they did just that.
According to reports, the Yankees tendered a contract to catcher Gary Sanchez.
As expected, because of the absolute lack of catching in the big leagues (scouts, managers, coaches, etc. have been talking about this for years), Yankees are tendering a contract to Gary Sanchez

Yankees tender contract to catcher Gary Sanchez
Even though they tendered a contract to Sanchez, the team was reportedly looking at other options this offseason, despite the fact that the free agency market and trading block was rather weak. One player they were reportedly linked to was Jacob Stallings of the Pittsburgh Pirates, but he was ultimately traded to the Miami Marlins.
Sanchez does possess tremendous home run power, but he has built up a propensity to strike out a ton throughout a baseball season. Then, there is his inability to defend behind home plate, which has caught the ire of many Yankees fans.
This past season, Sanchez slashed .204/.307/.423 while recording 23 home runs, 54 RBI, 78 hits and 121 strikeouts. Behind the plate, Sanchez recorded a .994 fielding percentage, committed six errors and allowed eight passed balls in 110 games.
Besides Sanchez, the Yankees announced they tendered the contracts of all other players on their roster. New York agreed to terms with infielder Gio Urshela and pitchers Domingo German and Lucas Luetge one one-year contracts.
