Quinn Ewers is on the move. The most coveted recruit in the class of 2021 is in the transfer portal and looking to return home to the state of Texas.

It’s only been a couple of weeks since Quinn Ewers received a raucous ovation from Ohio State fans at The Horseshoe when he made his garbage-time debut for the Buckeyes.

Those are the only cheers he’s going to hear in Ohio after entering the transfer portal, according to Pete Thamel of Yahoo! Sports.

Quinn Ewers to transfer from Ohio State with Texas, Texas A&M among favorites

Thamel reported Ewers intention to transfer on Friday, adding some information that will make fans of Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech very excited. Those three programs in the Lone Star state are the favorites to land the former five-star quarterback.

Ewers reclassified into the class of 2021 and ranked No. 1 in the 247Sports composite. He garnered a comparison to Phillips Rivers from Gabe Brooks of 247Sports, who viewed him as a potential Top 10 draft pick.

The quarterback from Southlake, Texas originally committed to the Longhorns in August 2020 but he reversed course in a matter of months and made his pledge to Ohio State.

He entered college ahead of schedule in order to tap into Name, Image and Likeness opportunities. However, playing opportunities didn’t emerge for him in Columbus. C.J. Stroud’s emergence as a Heisman candidate made it hard to see starting in his immediate future either.

Texas’ Steve Sarkisian and Texas A&M’s Jimbo Fisher would both love to make a big splash by bringing him back to Texas. If new Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire turns his head that would be one of the bigger stories of a wild college football season.
