Tiger Woods has given interviews recently that have hinted at a possible return. But that could come sooner than expected alongside his son, Charlie.
The breadcrumbs for Tiger Woods returning to competitive golf have been dropped over the past few weeks between swing videos and interviews discussing his future. But even then, it still appeared that a comeback might still be a ways off. That, however, might not be the case.
According to Dylan Dethier of Golf.com, Tiger is “seriously considering” playing in two weeks time at the PNC Championship. The tournament is a 36-hole event that features major champions paired as fathers and sons. Woods competed in the event in 2020 alongside his son, Charlie, who became an instant sensation as a near-perfect clone of his all-time great father.
Should he return for the 2021 PNC Championship, played Dec. 18-19, he will once again play with Charlie. Whether or not that happens remains uncertain but it is reportedly in the cards, which is certainly a surprise.
Tiger Woods return could happen at PNC Championship playing with son Charlie
Woods set social media ablaze with a swing video from the range a few weeks ago. Since then, he’s given interviews with Golf Digest and at the Hero World Challenge, an event he hosts in the Bahamas, that have discussed a potential return.
While at the Hero World Challenge, though, Tiger seemingly caught the itch again and was seen taking far more aggressive (and beautiful) swings than the one he posted to Twitter.
The reports indicate that Woods remains unsure about his readiness to play but he plans to test his health and where he’s at over the next week before making an official determination about whether he will team up with Charlie again for the PNC Championship.
If he’s ready, Tiger Woods returning to competitive golf — even in an event like this — would be a sight all fans would be overjoyed to see.
