Georgia football star running back James Cook draws comparisons to Dalvin Cook of the Minnesota Vikings, and for good reason.
With James Cook balling out for the Georgia football team in the 2021 SEC Championship, people are wondering if he is related to Minnesota Vikings star Dalvin Cook.
Though they play the same position, Cook is a very common surname in the United States of America. While this Cook is a prominent piece of the Georgia backfield, the one who now plays professionally in the NFL first made a name for himself at Florida State. So with all eyes on the 2021 SEC Championship game between Georgia and Alabama, are the Cooks actually related?
Yes, James Cook is Dalvin Cook’s younger brother, as they both grew up in Miami, Florida.
Is Georgia RB James Cook related to Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook?
The older Cook brother had a more accomplished individual career in college at Florida State. He was a two-time All-American running back playing for Jimbo Fisher’s Seminoles in Tallahassee. Cook decided to forego his senior year at Florida State to enter the 2017 NFL Draft. The Vikings took him in the second round. He has been to two Pro Bowls since being drafted by the Vikings.
As for the younger Cook brother, he has bided his time in a deep backfield in Athens. He is used in a deep rotation with the likes of Zamir White, Kenny McIntosh and Kendall Milton. Though he could have turned pro after last season, Cook decided to return to Athens for one more year. With a shot at playing for a national title, it seems as though Cook made a wise decision for himself.
With Cook expected to enter the draft after this season, he will join his older brother in the league.
