Will John Metchie play for Alabama in College Football Playoff?
Alabama receiver John Metchie missed the second half of the SEC title game with an injury. Will he make it back in time for the College Football Playoff?
Alabama’s triumph in the SEC Championship Game over Georgia showed that Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide are still at the top of their game.
However, it may have come with a cost.
Just before halftime, star wide receiver John Metchie III suffered a non-contact knee injury and missed the remainder of the game.

Sadly, Saban indicated to reporters that Metchie is likely to miss the College Football Playoff because of his injury.

Alabama didn’t give an indication of exactly what the injury was but it’s clearly severe enough that Metchie won’t be able to take the field within a month, which is the timeline he would need to participate in a playoff semifinal or the title game.
Metchie had an outstanding first half for the Tide on Saturday with six catches for 97 yards and a touchdown.
Going into the SEC title game, Metchie was Alabama’s second-leading receiver with 1,045 yards. He led the team with 90 catches.
Alabama will have to depend on others in the playoff while Jameson Williams will have an even more important role to play going forward. Williams was electric against Georgia with seven catches for 184 yards and two touchdowns.
