The OSU Cowboys have been steadily successful in the Big 12 during the Mike Gundy era. But when was the last time Oklahoma State won the Big 12?

The Oklahoma State Cowboys have their eye on a Big 12 championship in 2021. Baylor is the only thing standing in the way.

Despite a relatively strong decade of performance, the Cowboys haven’t been in this position very often.

In fact, 2021 is their first-ever appearance in the Big 12 Championship Game. So when was the last time they won the title?

When was Oklahoma State’s last Big 12 championship?

The Cowboys have won the conference title 10 times in their history. However, most of those were in the distant past.

From 1926 to 1953, Oklahoma State took the conference crown eight times when they were in the Missouri Valley Conference. They got a Big Eight Conference title in 1976.

In the Big 12 era, the Cowboys have broken through just once: 2011.

Brandon Weeden led that team at quarterback with Justin Blackmon as his most dangerous receiving target and Joseph Randle supporting him via the ground game. Daytawion Lowe led the team in tackles from the safety spot while Jamie Blatnickk terrorized quarterbacks up front and Justin Gilbert picked them off.

Mike Gundy and his team went 12-1, blew out Oklahoma, and went on to win the Fiesta Bowl. They finished No. 3 in the Coaches and AP poll.

Since then, Gundy has produced multiple 10-win seasons but he hasn’t had claimed another conference championship.
