Rich Eisen, Adam Schefter react to Michigan winning Big Ten, making playoff
By Scott Rogust
Michigan alum Rich Eisen and Adam Schefter were ecstatic watching the Wolverines win the Big Ten Championship Game on Saturday.
Michigan fans have waited a long time for their team to be named Big Ten Champions. They had not held that distinction since 2004, and have never won the Big Ten Championship Game in the program’s history. But after defeating Ohio State last week, all of the momentum was behind the Wolverines, and they capitalized on it.
The Wolverines defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes 42-3 to win the Big Ten Championship and subsequently clinched a spot in the College Football Playoff for the first-time ever. There were plenty of Michigan fans celebrating the huge victory, including school alum in the sports media world. Of course, we are talking about NFL Network’s Rich Eisen and ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Michigan wins Big Ten Championship, clinches spot in College Football Playoff
This game was all Michigan, as evidenced by the score. The tone was set early after Blake Corum ran the ball 67-yards along the sidelines for a touchdown and Donovan Edwards hit Roman Wilson for a 75-yard score, giving the Wolverines an early 14-0 lead in the first quarter.
Iowa would get on the board at the end of the first quarter on a Caleb Shudak 22-yard field goal, and they would go scoreless ever since. That is all thanks to the performance of Michigan’s defense, where they held the Hawkeyes to 279 yards of total offense.
Now, with a Playoff spot secured, Michigan will now wait and see which seed their receive and who they will face off against in the Semifinals. That will be determined in the Selection Show on Sunday at noon.
It was a long time coming for Michigan fans and alum, but they can now celebrate the Wolverines football program as Big Ten Champions.
