Will Brian Kelly bring Joe Brady back to LSU?
By Scott Rogust
With Joe Brady no longer Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator, could Brian Kelly bring him back to LSU?
Even though the Carolina Panthers were on a bye week, the team decided to shake things up on their coaching staff on Sunday. The team announced that they have parted ways with offensive coordinator Joe Brady. This came as a bit of a shock, considering he was receiving head coaching interviews this past offseason.
With Brady officially a free agent, could he get a call from Brian Kelly to make a return to the LSU Tigers?
LSU football: Will Joe Brady return to the Tigers on Brian Kelly’s staff?
Let’s start off by saying that Kelly is in need for some assistant coaches. He tried bringing over Notre Dame offensive coordinator Tommy Rees to fill the same position, but he announced he was staying. Kelly tried the same with defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman, but he was promoted to head coach of the Fighting Irish. So, there is an opening available for an offensive coordinator in Baton Rouge.
Brady experienced his greatest success in his one lone season with LSU. As the team’s passing game coordinator, the Tigers offense was downright historic and played a major role in the team going undefeated and eventually winning the National Championship. Quarterback Joe Burrow won the Heisman Trophy after he threw for 5,671 yards, 60 touchdowns and just six interceptions in 15 games that year.
As for if Brady would make a triumphant return to Baton Rouge, that is unknown. It would be up to Kelly to want him to join his coaching staff. Not only that, but Brady could still receive offers in the NFL and college football, potentially as big as head coaching jobs.
While it would be nice for LSU fans to see Brady return, there is no telling if that could actually be a possibility.
