The Los Angeles Chargers have placed wide receiver Keenan Allen on the COVID-19 list.

A day after the Los Angeles Chargers improved to 7-5 on the season, the Bolts saw star wide receiver Keenan Allen be placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

While the Chargers took care of business vs. the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 13, they need to keep pace with the red-hot Kansas City Chiefs in AFC West play. The Bolts are a game back of Kansas City, who has won five games in a row. Los Angeles does have the great fortune of hosting the struggling New York Giants on Sunday in Week 14, possibly without Daniel Jones at quarterback.

The question remains is if Allen is vaccinated and if he will be back in time to play for the Chargers.

Is Keenan Allen vaccinated?

With Chargers head coach Brandon Staley saying Allen is “day-to-day” and he hopes to have good news in a few days, that probably indicates he is fully vaccinated.

Allen would be eligible to come off the COVID-19 list with two negative tests taken 24 hours apart. If he is unvaccinated but a deemed close contact, Allen would be out for five days, no matter what. This would mean he could return in time ahead of Sunday afternoon’s game vs. New York.

Even if Allen is unable to go vs. the G-Men on Sunday, this is a game the Chargers have to win. They have another incredibly winnable game vs. the Houston Texans the day after Christmas. Other than that, their five remaining games are all in AFC West play. While they get the Chiefs and Denver Broncos at home, the Bolts finish the regular season at the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 18.

With the overall tone from Staley, it seems like he expects Allen to play on Sunday vs. the Giants.
