3. Top fantasy football pickups for Week 14 – Philadelphia Eagles RB Kenneth Gainwell

Few teams in the NFL like to run more than the Philadelphia Eagles, who completely re-shaped their offensive philosophy to fit the talents of Jalen Hurts. The Eagles kept pounding the rock against the New York Jets even without Hurts, rushing 41 times for 185 yards in a 33-18 win at MetLife Stadium.

The noteworthy development to come out of this game was that Miles Sanders, who rushed 24 times for 120 yards, exited early with an injury to his ankle. The same issue sent Sanders to IR after he originally injured it back in Week 7, which could be problematic for Philadelphia down the stretch.

Jordan Howard is already out with a knee issue and Boston Scott’s illness limited him in today’s game, opening up plenty of reps for Kenneth Gainwell as the last man standing. Gainwell did well with his opportunity, rushing 12 times for 54 yards and a touchdown while converting 5 targets into 5 receptions for 33 more yards.

The tricky situation here is that the Eagles are on bye in Week 14 so Gainwell can’t help you immediately while the potential exists for any of the other backs to get healthy enough to contribute in Week 15. Gainwell, who is rostered in six percent of Yahoo leagues, is still worth a speculative pickup in PPR leagues as he likely earned a share of passing down work going forward, particularly if Sanders’ ankle forces him to miss more time.
