Losers of three of their previous four games, it was a second straight Thursday night game for the Cowboys – who would be without head coach Mike McCarthy due to COVID-19 (via ESPN’s Todd Archer).
The club would take on the Saints at New Orleans and were actually outgained by their hosts. But despite giving up 405 total yards, the defense came up with four interceptions – one of those a 29-yard D return by defensive tackle Carlos Watkins.
It wasn’t long ago that Mike Vrabel’s club was not only sitting atop its division but owned the conference’s best record outright. The Titans still own a one and a half-game lead in the AFC South over the Colts.
But the team has lost its last two contests and were limited to 13 points in consecutive losses to the Texans and Patriots. The team has struggled in recent weeks. The absence of workhorse running back Derrick Henry is finally starting to be felt.
Andy Reid’s team not only brought in a four-game winning streak to their Sunday night clash with the Broncos, the Chiefs had disposed of Denver 11 straight times. The frontrunners in the AFC West opened up an early 10-0 lead but the offense was limited to only 267 total yards and one TD.
Daniel Sorensen’s 75-yard interception return for a score was one of three Kansas City takeaways. Patrick Mahomes threw for 184 yards and was picked off once.
