Brent Venables has been named the Oklahoma football head coach and will be introduced with a press conference on Monday.
After a week or so of searching, Oklahoma football has a new head coach with former Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables being named the 23rd head coach in the illustrious history of the Sooners football program.
Venables has history with the program and had been rumored to be a target for some time, but it was a big move by the OU athletic department to pull off the hire and get him away from Dabo Swinney’s staff, something other programs had tried to achieve previously.
But now, Brent Venables is in Norman and will be introduced as the Oklahoma football head coach on Monday, Dec. 6.

The press conference to unveil Venables as the Sooners head coach will be at 10:30 a.m. CT, 9:30 a.m. CT.
Though we don’t have official information on where the press conference will be streamed, the Oklahoma Sooners YouTube channel, OU football Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook pages, as well as the Sooners Sports website are all great options that should have Venables being introduced.
The Trojans live stream weekly press conferences and Trojans Live shows on YouTube via the USC Athletics channel, so that’s where you can find the Riley press conference.
Venables, of course, previously spent time with the Sooners under current interim head coach Bob Stoops as part of his defensive staff before his long tenure with the Clemson Tigers. This homecoming is sure to be celebrated as the faithful in Norman are highly excited to have a high-profile head coach replacing Lincoln Riley.
