Steph Curry is chasing the record for most three-pointers in NBA history, trying to break the mark set by Ray Allen. What is the number, when will it fall?

All the talk throughout the start of December has been about Warriors guard Steph Curry on his way to making history in the near future. Namely, he’s on track to set the record for most 3-pointers in NBA history made, a record currently held by Ray Allen.

The big question has been, though, when will Curry do it. But there are also plenty of more questions about the record and Curry’s path to it.

Don’t worry — we have the answers.

What record is Steph Curry about to break?

Ray Allen, over 18 seasons in the league, set the record for most 3-pointers made in NBA history as he sunk 2,973 over the course of his career.

Entering Wednesday night and the Warriors’ matchup with the Blazers, Curry trailed Allen by 15 with 2,958 in his career, though is just two-thirds of the seasons that it took his sharp-shooting predecessor to get to the record.

Most 3-pointers in a game: Steph Curry would have to break another record vs. Blazers

Coming into the game against Portland, the talk about Curry was that he would try to set two records in one night: Most 3-pointers in NBA history and most 3-pointers in a game.

Trailing Allen’s career record by 15 made buckets from deep, Curry would’ve had to break his Warriors teammate, Klay Thompson’s, single-game record of 14 made 3-pointers if he was going to even tie the record.

When will Steph Curry set record for most 3-pointers in NBA history?

After a slow start against the Trail Blazers, it does not seem like Wednesday is the record-setting night for Curry. So when will it happen?

Though it’s impossible to say — especially with how hot we know Steph Curry can get — the prediction from this writer would be that he does it on the biggest stage, surpassing Ray Allen on Tuesday, Dec. 14 in Madison Square Garden against the Knicks.
