Jeff Hardy reportedly released by WWE

WWE star Jeff Hardy was reportedly released by the company after he was recently sent home from a live event.
Jeff Hardy made the news recently after he was sent home from a live event in Edinburg, Texas this past weekend, per a report from PW Insider. Days later, Hardy is no longer with the company.
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, the WWE released Hardy on Thursday. Sapp adds that he heard the company offered help and rehab for Hardy, which was declined by the 44-year-old.

At the live event in question, Hardy teamed up with Drew McIntyre and “King” Xavier Woods in a match against Roman Reigns and the Usos. PW Insider mentioned in their report that Hardy became “sluggish” the more the match went on. After tagging out, Hardy left the ringside area through the crowd and did not return.
Hardy was replaced by Rey Mysterio at the following night’s event in Corpus Christi after being sent home by the company.
After news broke of his release from the company on Thursday, WWE superstars sent their well wishes to Hardy on Twitter. Those included WWE champion Big E, United States champion Damian Priest and Mustafa Ali.

Hardy was in his third stint with WWE, making his return at WrestleMania 33 in 2017. The fan favorite won the RAW Tag Team Championship, United States Championship, SmackDown Tag Team championship and Intercontinental championship in this latest run. Hardy most recently wrestled in the traditional five-on-five elimination tag team match at Survivor Series on Nov. 21.
