Undefeated welterweight Conor Benn keeps his stock trending up after his round 4 knockout of veteran former champion Chris Algieri.

The progeny of former boxing great Nigel Benn, Conor Benn, continues to forge his own boxing path. He notched another victory over former super lightweight champion Chris Algieri.

Benn (20-0, 13 KOs) made easy work of the former champion. The fight took place on Dec. 11 from Echo Arena in Liverpool, England, where Benn enjoyed the home country advantage. He didn’t need it as Algieri proved no match for Benn.

The power difference between the two showed early. Benn tenderized Algieri’s body with lead left hook body shots that got Algieri’s attention. Algieri got used to Benn going low, and that’s when he changed levels and dropped Algieri in round 2 with a cuffing hook.

Conor Benn just needed one punch to put Chris Algieri out in their welterweight matchup

Algieri (25-4, 9 KOs) wasn’t hurt, but he soon would be.

In round 4, Benn stepped up his aggression. He charged Algieri with a one-two combination. His straight right to Algieri’s chin momentarily knocked Algieri out cold.

Algieri quickly regained consciousness with his back on the canvas, but he couldn’t rise to his feet. He remained on the canvas for several minutes until it was safe to move up to his stool.

Benn took care of business and moves up the welterweight ranks. He’s been vocal about wanting to gain a world title, and he may well be on his way.
