There’s a new head coach for the Oregon football program. The Ducks have officially hired Dan Lanning to be their next head coach.
Well, it’s finally official. The Oregon Ducks have their next football coach. Dan Lanning, formerly a co-defensive coordinator with the Georgia Bulldogs, will now be the head coach of the Oregon football program.
There was some early confusion around the hire when it was initially reported by Chip Towers as the news of the hire was refuted, but it’s now clear that Oregon will be led by Lanning.
A nod today to @ctowersajc who had the news on Friday. Oregon admins adamantly denied a report that went from “inaccurate" to true in 24 hours.

So, what do Oregon fans think about this?

Oregon landing Lanning was a big move for several fans. While losing Cristobal in such controversial fashion has to be frustrating and disheartening, picking up a coach like Lanning gives Oregon an opportunity to move forward.

Of course, some Oregon football fans wanted another head coach leading their program. But that sort of discussion will happen any time a head coach is hired anywhere.
And while the hire will be one that is debated moving forward, it seems as if there will always be a discussion as to whether or not Oregon should’ve brought Chip Kelly back for a reunion.
Oregon fans are happy now and they should be. Right now, on the surface, it seems like the Ducks made a good hire. But if it doesn’t work for whatever reason, there’s a good chance this topic will come back up.
As long as it isn’t Chip 🙌

Coach Lanning is gonna kill it at Oregon. I thought he should've been their primary target not Chip Kelly. Good for him.
