1. Abundance of wide receiver talent in the first round

McShay has six receivers going in the first round, including one in the top 10. In the last couple of seasons, rookie receivers have had a high rate of success and this draft class is another example of the wideout talent flowing into the league. Even though it does not match the 2021’s receiver draft class, the 2022 receiver draft class is deeper.

Jameson Williams from Alabama is the first wide receiver to come off the board, going to the Falcons, a team that has plenty of other needs, so this selection was a bit of a surprise. The Browns, a team in much more dire need of a receiver, were the next, taking USC’s Drake London.

Elsewhere in McShay’s mock draft, he had Garrett Wilson from Ohio State going to the Eagles and another Buckeye, Chris Olave, being selected by the Packers, a pick that would be an absolute steal for Green Bay.

Capping off the wide receivers in the first round are Jahan Dotson out of Penn State (Chiefs) and Treylon Burks from Arkansas (Patriots). Both players have some elite traits that could make them dangerous NFL weapons for two teams that need that in their offense right now.
